Our Early Learners are children in Prekindergarten and Kindergarten. We are thrilled to offer our students prekindergarten and kindergarten programs accredited by the New York State Association of Independent Schools (NYSAIS).

Early education at the Susan Odell Taylor School is anything but ordinary.

Proceeding at his or her own pace, each child discovers how to make connections between their skills and the world around them. Each program allows:

• Child-centered choice;
• Outdoor play and discovery;
• Working cooperatively as a whole group, in small groups, in pairs, individually and in multiage groups.

The day’s activities allow the energy level to fluctuate from calm to boisterous! We showcase our achievements and celebrate successes daily.

But that’s not the best part. The best part is what Taylor School children learn about learning.

Prekindergarten

PreK is a busy community, all working together toward the same ultimate goal: becoming competent, confident, independent problem solvers and lifelong learners.

Our prekindergarten classroom is a lively place where children experience the joys of learning as they become confident in their understanding of self and community.

Kindergarten

Our kindergarten curriculum is designed to give our students rich and varied experiences as they grow intellectually, socially and emotionally. Kindergartners are challenged to expand their skills and understandings in the areas of reading, writing, mathematics, science and social studies. Each child is guided through the curriculum in a nurturing environment that is just right for the curious mind of a kindergartner.

The kindergarten classroom is a busy place filled with learning and joy that is perfect for the curious and inquisitive minds of 5-6 year olds. Kindergartners at the Taylor School are joyful learners in action!

Program Options

Prekindergarten (ages 3-5 years old): 3 day or 5 day programs, Half Day (8:30 am - 1:00 pm) or Full Day (8:30 am - 3:30 pm)

Kindergarten: 5 Full Day (8:30 am - 3:30 pm)

We also offer aftercare from 3:30pm - 5:30pm and summer camp.

In terms of tuition, we are more affordable than the median for private independent schools and child care centers in the Capital Region. Through our premium child care plan, you can tailor our schedule to your needs and make it even more affordable in the process.
